Upcycled materials
for new comfort.

We aim to make effective use of unused paper resources
and unused thinned wood generated from forest maintenance
by upcycling them into tangible objects.
This is the starting point of this initiative.

When it seemed challenging to utilize each resource individually,
we discovered paper yarn as a new means of resource utilization.
Upcycling these unused materials into paper yarn not only creates new uses
and values but also integrates them seamlessly into our daily lives.

The soft and gentle texture of paper yarn offers a connection to the earth,
characterized by its hygroscopicity and lightweight nature.
Thanks to Japan's unique sewing technology,
garments made from this yarn are durable and can be worn comfortably for extended periods.

The paper yarn,
spun from the collective thoughts of many people,
will carry these thoughts into the future.

POINT

Paper resources

Paper is often considered a recyclable material, but of the 740,000 tonnes of paper packaging discarded by households, only 3% is actually recycled, with the majority being incinerated.
To address this, we have set up paper collection boxes in retail stores.

Thinned wood

Thinning plays a crucial role in disaster prevention and in improving water and air quality.

However, some thinned wood is left abandoned in the mountains due to issues such as the cost of removal and the wood's shape.

To preserve the mountains, it is essential to make effective use of thinned wood and establish a sustainable cycle of new afforestation and thinning.

Weaving and knitting

  • 01 Recycling resources

Paper bundles and thinned wood are used as raw material for recycled paper.

  • 02 Transformed into paper yarn

The paper is cut into thin strips of around 1.5mm. Each strip is then twisted into paper yarn.
