Kaga Yuzen Tenugui (Cycle of...)
■“Kaga Yuzen” A collaboration to connect traditional techniques and the global environment to the next generation
The "Upcycled Kaga Yuzen Tenugui" is a collaboration between "TSUMUGI," a sustainable paper yarn made from post-consumer paper resources and unused thinning wood, and the traditional Japanese craft "Kaga Yuzen."
The designs were created by the next generation of students from Kyoto Seika University under the supervision of Kaga Yuzen Maita Dyeing Crafts artist Hitoshi Maita, and are based on the themes of the global environment and coexistence, using the techniques of Yuzen dyeing to create the designs and dyeing.
In addition to the calm, realistic floral patterns typical of Kaga Yuzen, attention is also focused on works that have been arranged in a modern style with the sensibilities of the younger generation.
They can be used as a substitute for towels or furoshiki, as a fashion item, or as a gift, and they blend into everyday life.
It also features sturdy stitching made in Japan and a soft feel that only natural materials can provide.
